Quarterback Competition Intensifies at Browns’ Minicamp

As the Browns conclude their mandatory minicamp, the quarterback position remains a focal point. At 39 years old and heading into his 19th NFL season, Joe Flacco is on track to open the year as the Browns’ starting quarterback while Deshaun Watson continues his recovery.

Flacco didn’t shy away from pointing out the learning curve for Cleveland’s young signal-callers. “They’ve got a lot of talent, but there’s just stuff you only learn by being in these huddles for years,” he said after minicamp practice. While rookies like Shedeur Sanders show promise, coaches have so far leaned on Flacco’s experience as camp reps ramp up.Despite some analysts predicting Shedeur Sanders may start by Week 8, head coach Kevin Stefanski has so far assigned first-team reps to Flacco and Kenny Pickett, underscoring the team’s focus on installation and teaching phases rather than depth chart rankings.
