Cleveland, OH—Cleveland VOTES, in partnership with nearly 60 local organizations, will celebrate National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) throughout Greater Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, and Ohio during the week of Sept. 17-23. These events will provide Ohio residents with the opportunity to get registered to vote, obtain voter education resources, and celebrate democracy.

NVRD–which is officially on Sept. 20 this year–is a nonpartisan civic holiday that aims to help all eligible voters participate in our democracy. It is held on the fourth Tuesday of every September. Today marks the 10-year anniversary of this civic holiday and over the last decade, partners across the country have registered nearly 4.5 million voters on this holiday. Cleveland VOTES has been an NVRD partner and convener of local agencies since 2014.

To help maximize voter registration efforts, Cleveland VOTES calls on local businesses, governmental agencies, community groups, nonprofits, and individuals to join their mission by signing on as an official NVRD holiday partner. This year, nearly 60 partners have signed up to either host, partner or promote NVRD. Cleveland VOTES also provides each partner with a SWAG bag, which contains all the necessary voter engagement materials and essential items to help support their events.

“Cleveland VOTES is very excited to be able to once again work alongside our partners that are engaging in these celebratory events. Please show up and amplify the work of these dedicated individuals and help make these events a success,” say Robin Turner, the Civic Engagement Strategist for Cleveland VOTES.

All eligible voters who reside anywhere in Ohio will be able to register to vote at any of the NVRD events beginning September 17th regardless of their assigned voting precinct location on Election Day (Nov. 8). As a reminder, the voter registration deadline for the upcoming General Election is October 11, 2022. For people who are already registered to vote, Cleveland VOTES still encourages them to attend one of the many fun events and/or tell their friends and family about NVRD. Ongoing information about NVRD events happening in the area can be found on Cleveland VOTES’s website or the NVRD Greater Cleveland Facebook event page. And any questions about the event can be directed to [email protected].
