From reality TV comebacks and new music to Super Bowl controversy and long-awaited reunions, October 2025 has been anything but quiet in entertainment. Here’s a look at the biggest stories shaping the month.
Super Bowl 2026: Bad Bunny Takes Center Stage
The announcement that Bad Bunny will headline the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show sent shockwaves across the country — and not everyone is celebrating.
Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski claimed that ICE will be present at the game, saying, “There is nowhere you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally. Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else.”
Former racecar driver Danica Patrick added to the backlash, arguing, “No songs in English should not be allowed at one of America’s highest-rated television events of the year.”
Conservative organization Turning Point USA announced plans to host its own “All American Super Bowl Halftime Show” in protest, offering fans genre options like “Anything in English,” “Americana,” and “Worship.”
Bad Bunny himself has yet to respond publicly.
Reality TV & Streaming: Familiar Faces and Bold Moves
The Kardashian empire returns this fall as “The Kardashians” Season 7 premieres October 23. This season marks the much-buzzed-about on-screen return of Rob Kardashian, who hasn’t appeared on camera since the family’s E! reality days.
Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian continues to make headlines beyond the show. Kim and Kris Jenner are suing Ray J for defamation following his claims that he was working with federal authorities to build a RICO case against them.
Kim also opened up on Call Her Daddy about her life with ex-husband Kanye West, recalling moments during his manic episodes: “I would come home, and we had like five Lamborghinis and I’d come home and they’d all be gone… he gave them away to all of his friends,” Kim said.
In true Kardashian fashion, she’s also making waves in fashion and branding. SKIMS unveiled a provocative new underwear collection called “The Ultimate Bush” — an edgy faux-hair-inspired line already sparking conversation across social media.
Over on the music front, Kylie Jenner — now performing under the name King Kylie — made a surprise return to music. Teaming up with Terror Jr, she released her new track “Fourth Strike”, following up on the viral “Rise & Shine” moment that first launched her singing buzz years ago.
Music & Pop Culture: Icons, Albums & Comebacks
Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ Era
Taylor Swift dropped her highly anticipated album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. “Ruin the Friendship” has already been named Billboard’s #1 best song on the album, and Swift now holds the third-most No. 1 singles for a female artist on the Hot 100 with 13.
At a theater event, Swift described the song “Actually Romantic” as “a love letter to someone who hates you.” She added, “Sometimes you don’t know that you’re a part of someone else’s story, but you are. And then it’s revealed to you through things they do.”
Despite the album’s success, Swift said she has no plans to tour soon: “I am so tired.”
But the release hasn’t been without controversy. Some listeners accused Swift of using microaggressions toward Black women, linking lyrics to her fiancé’s ex, Kayla Nicole. Ruby Rose came to her defense when some started to make MAGA comparisons, saying, “I refuse to say her name in the same sentence as the hate group…”
The album also allegedly contains veiled references to Charli XCX. Charli responded in Vanity Fair, saying she finds public perceptions of her “fascinating,” but didn’t directly comment on Swift.
Victoria Justice, whose latest single dropped the same day as Swift’s album, reassured fans: “It’s not a competition! I love Taylor. I’m such a huge fan.”
Legacy & Tributes
R&B lost a legend this month as D’Angelo passed away after a long battle with cancer. Beyoncé led tributes, calling him “the pioneer of neo-soul” and praising how his artistry “transformed rhythm & blues forever.”
In other music news, Mariah Carey revealed she had once recorded a song with Michael Jackson that may never see the light of day. “I love it. I’m upset it’s not coming out,” Carey said, also expressing her desire to one day headline the Super Bowl halftime show.
Reunions & R&B Moments
Pop fans are buzzing after former One Direction members Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik teased a reunion. When asked by iHeartRadio, Tomlinson responded, “I suppose they’ll just have to wait and see.”
The duo is reportedly set to reunite for a U.S. road trip docuseries on Netflix, marking their first on-screen project together since the group’s breakup.
Meanwhile, R&B legends Brandy and Monica reflected on the enduring legacy of “The Boy Is Mine” in Essence.
Monica said, “Even though the lyrical content created more division than togetherness, we’ve taken control of that and are making the legacy totally different for the next generation.”
Brandy added, “I see it as so much bigger than just a hit record…it represented sisterhood and the power of collaboration.”
